The McDonalds modular build restaurants provided a challenging opportunity for CAD SERVICES brought in by Building Services Consultants Maleon to solve co-ordination and installation problems. An in-depth review of the conventional arrangements for the ductwork installation revealed it unsympathetic to the basic principles of modular build. CAD SERVICES set about rethinking the whole ductwork package with a clear mission in mind, to design a ductwork system that contributed to a seamless assembly line build process, shorter call off time and installed by in-house labour and at a substantially lower cost. The outcome was a modular push fit ductwork system with improved performance offering near off the shelf availability. This translated into a thirty percent direct cost saving, a fifty percent reduction in installation time and eliminated the consequential burden to other trades previously experienced. CAD SERVICES further improved build time by designing in handling and distribution considerations. The whole package for each modular restaurant being supplied on shrink-wrapped pallets with fixings, installation drawings and each component individually labelled, further complemented by CAD SERVICES installation training. |
